L.A.M.B. Signature Hopewell Bag, Handbag of the Day

Filed under:

The color scheme of this L.A.M.B. Signature Hopewell Bag reminds me of crisp spring mornings and freshly cut grass, and the structured canvas and leather design make it trendy and stylish. Features include a zipper along the sides and base that unzips to increase the bag’s capacity, gold metal hardware, rolled leather handles with link attachments and a 6 1/2″ drop, large flat pockets with magnetic closures on both the front and the back, a primarily open top with a magnetic closure tab, and a leather lined L.A.M.B. nameplate on the pocket-loaded and textiled-lined interior. $420

New York’s Big Book

Filed under:

I thought the book “Gotham” was the biggest book on New York city but Gloria Books has it beat with “New York,” a giant-sized, 756 page limited-edition book that comes in a Lucite “skyscraper” stand. “Gotham” may still have it beat in page numbers (over 1400 pages) but the New York Books is much heavier, weighing in at 25 pounds. The book is hand-bound in Italian silk and has 33 chapters on all aspects of the city, including history, architecture, design, art & fashion, to music, film, dance and sport. The book includes essays by some of the great writers such as Tom Wolfe, Gay Talese, John Updike and many more as well as photography from some of the most famous lenspeople to chronicle the city such as Annie Leibovitz, Alfred Stieglitz, Diane Arbus, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Patrick Demarchelier and David Bailey. The Lenape Edition, named after the first Native American tribe to inhabit New York State, is an edition of 850 units and includes a print by Sam Goldstein from the Corbus Archive. It sells for $2,500.

Camitz Sparkling Vodka

Filed under:

I’ve tried the O2 sparkling vodka but I’m intrigued by the new Camitz vodka because it’s topped with a champagne stopper (the O2 has a screwcap and was only mildy fizzy). The Camitz Vodka comes from Sweden and is made from water from the underground springs of Töllsjo and grains from the fields of Västergötland near the distillery. The vodka is distilled five times before carbonation.I haven’t tried it yet but The Strong Buzz reports that it delivers a satisfying pop when opened and has a nice fizz with a bit of acidity and needs to be chilled before serving. It sells for $45 and will soon be appearing in key markets in New York, Florida, Nevada and California.

Roberto Cavalli Gecko Cuffs

Filed under:

These quirky gecko cuff bracelets are so recognizably Cavalli, I can’t think of another designer that could make sparkly reptiles look somewhat cool and fashionable. The shimmering Swarovski crystal lizard is toned down by the neutral wood body, making these bracelets a fun and playful addition to your summer accessory collection. Pick your color, fuchsia, blue or green… or a more wearable black (my favorite). Vivre.com carries the Roberto Cavalli Gecko Cuffs which retail for $625.

amfAR, Charity of the Day!

Last week’s star studded charity auction and dinner event at Cannes, raked in a whopping $10 million for amfAR, a leading AIDS research organization. Founded in 1985, amfAR is dedicated to ending the global AIDS epidemic through continued innovative research. Tickets to attend the bash went for $5,000 a person and accounted for a good portion of the evenings earnings. Celebrities in attendance included Madonna who donated her purse complete with it’s contents to the evenings auction…it went for a staggering $1.5 million! It’s nice to see people coming together with such a successful outcome, $10 million is quite an accomplishment for one evening!

Rubber Chandelier by Tobias Wong

I’m not sure if this Rubber Chandelier sets out to solve a problem (eliminating the breakability factor) or just strives to be unique and kooky. Either way, if you want a showstopping conversation piece for your home, voila! Designer Tobias Wong adds his personal flare to the age-old chandelier by encapsulating each crystal in an thick coat of industrial grade white rubber. My theory is why mess with perfection…and to me, chandeliers are pretty perfect, but I must admit this thing is kind of cool. I’m dying to know if it bounces. Rubber chandeliers don’t come cheap, this quirky collectible will cost you $4,499!

Filed under:

The deliciously, luxuriously beige style of Armani/Casa has a new home in New York. Two new penthouses were just introduced at 20 Pine, The Collection in lower Manhattan. The first of the two penthouses is a two-bedroom, two-bath 1,873-square-foot home priced at $3.2 million. The second penthouse is a 1,829-square-foot one-bedroom with 1.5-baths, priced at $3.1 million.

20 Pine, the former headquarters of Chase Manhattan Bank is now home to 409 residences. The building has a large lobby with an adjacent “library lounge.” Amenities include The Collection Pool and Spa with a Turkish Hammam, The Collection Club fitness center and 25th floor landscaped outdoor Terrace Lounge with city and river views. The Concierge Residences at The Collection, from the 25th floor through the penthouses, offer hotel style amenities such the on-site services of concierge service, Quintessentially and a concierge lounge which serves a daily breakfast. The residences at 20 Pine, The Collection range from studios and alcove studios to one- two- and three- bedroom residences to open layout penthouses. Prices start from $715,000.

20 Pine has had a long road to completion, Curbed first talked about it back in January of 2006. The NY Observer reported last month that sales had finally begun on the long-awaited project and that Christopher Beaudet, a managing director at Deutsche Bank, bought a unit for $1.32 million.

Versace Large Studded Tote, Handbag of the Day

Filed under:

Versace bags are always ornate and loud, if you like to stand out among a sea of Louis Vuitton clones, just add some Versace to your handbag collection! The newest addition to the line is the large studded tote. The gold leather and gold hardware detailing is pretty but what makes this bag a bit “off” are the two top flaps that open…to an unsightly extent. Not my cup of tea, it looks so… exposed. However I do like the bag when it’s closed! If you feel the need to let it all hang out, the Versace Large Studded Tote is available at Neiman Marcus, for $2,875!

SeaVees Shoes

Summer is fast upon us and you are going to need a new pair of casual shoes. For men the options keep getting more and more interesting. I love the look of the SeaVees, a shoe that takes the comfort of a sneaker and adds a bit of classic flair. The sneakers were inspired by California cool in the 1960s and each style is named after a month and year during that era. The model shown is the the 01/68 shoe. It has a perforated suede leather upper with pull-up leather accents and a contrasting toe bumper. The lining is calfskin. They sell for $165. Here’s hoping they put out a line for women soon.
